I am amazed at the response I have received. Thank you. I really wasn’t sure how folks would react to a guy taking an interest in a cute girl and what she does. In the Circle of Trust life seems to be good
Anyway, back to business. This week I replaced Cute Girl’s brake power booster and we had a interesting exchange. Prior to our relationship, all of her car maintenance had been done at the dealership or a mechanic. When we realized the booster was going out in the Junkster I told her that I would switch it out and save her a couple hundred dollars. When I first started, she was there by my side, ready to help in any way. I recommended she go spend time in the art room so she didn’t hear the profanity that was sure to fly. She went up and it took about an hour for me to get it switched out. Once it was changed, I needed to bleed the brakes. She came down and was a rockstar. The instructions I gave her were followed and we got it done.
What I realized when I started writing about trying to understand her obsession with scrapbooking was her interest in what I do. The home improvement projects we have done together have always been a joint deal. What she didn’t know she was quick to ask and to learn. I have never had a woman do this and stick with it. And actually like it. We built a deck. And not just any deck. A huge multilevel deck with tile work and boards that were picture-framed and radiating from the center. As with anything, Cute Girl creates beauty in her mind and then I help find a way to make it reality. And this deck was no exception. It was a long project with a lot of changes as we went along. Not once was there an argument about the deck and we did it together. The look on her face when we completed the deck was nothing short of amazing. This summer was a time we really came together as a couple.
Replacing the booster was no different. Had I asked her to stay and help the entire time I have no doubt she would have. And would have been helpful. I need to be mindful of this. It isn’t about me learning and understanding what she does. It is also being able to share what I do.
And the first stop after the booster was replaced and I drove it to make sure it was safe? We went to Joann’s and I bought the yarn I wrote about in the Creative Crossover Section.
