Bails:  Metal thingies that are glued onto the pendants that hang down from a necklace. Not to be confused with the bail on our fishing reels.

Boiler Room:  Cute Girl calls it the Art Room.  However, there is an old adage about not watching sausage be made if you intend to eat it.  There is stuff everywhere when the project starts.  Glitter glue sticks are flying, scraps are being thrown around, and I am pretty sure a sailor entered the room late at night when something didn't go right. Or maybe it was just me in a sleep deprived state.  Either way, it didn't seem real arty at times.

Card Stock:  Thicker paper.  Kind of like the gasket material you buy to make your own thermostat housing gasket when you screw up the gasket that came with the thermostat for the old Chevy pickup.

Circle of Trust:  A term I coined.  I am pretty sure there is a secret society and I am not sure what exactly it entails, but it seems huge.  It involves blogs, websites, craft fairs, and crops.  As soon as I figure out what “crops” are I will let you know. People within the Circle share ideas and apparently get published.

Craft Bizarre:  Yes, I know it is really Bazaar.  But to me there was just too much oddity.

Craptastic: an item that is handmade and disguised as a craft item.  Ultimately, it will probably end up as a prop on the Jerry Springer show if it is still around.

Crimpers: pliers modified to work like a pop riveter.

Duct Tape: I have been told that the papercutter is probably the most used tool in scrapbooking.  Well, if a guy scrapbooked, this would be our figurative papercutter.  We try to use it for everything.  Notice I said "try."  It doesn't always work, but we feel better for having tried to use it.  When we can't figure it out, fix it, or find it, duct tape is applied.  And we feel better.  Even if the problem is still there. The only thing that makes us feel better than using duct tape is hitting something with the hammer.

Embellishments:  things that get glued, tied, riveted, or otherwise stuck on the paper.  They seem to be analgous to all of the things you can find to stick on your truck after you buy it.  Much like those chrome busty cutouts of women found on truck mudflaps or fuzzy dice but with couth and flair. I have been informed that no scrapbook supporter would be caught dead with the chrome busty cutouts so don't try to negotiate a set when she returns home with a bag of stamps or card stock or whatever. Apparently fuzzy dice may be acceptable if they are “retro” enough.

Hostage:  A loved one of a crafter or scrapbooker that finds themselves at a craft event.  They are easy to find.  Just look into their eyes.  They love the one they are with.  But there are other places they want/need/should be.  And their eyes tell the story.

Junkster:  A four year old small SUV used for daily commuting as well as for hauling home antique store, garage sale, and other treasures found by Cute Girl or her best chick friend, hereafter known as Enabler in the First Degree (EFD).  EFD dubbed it the Junkster when the attempted a thirty seven mile yard sale event.  After eight miles the car was packed to the gills and a trunk was strapped to the top.

Mouth-Breathing-Knuckledragger:  See Scrapbook Supporter.  Generally has hobbies that include grunting, getting dirty, and sitting down.

Necklace:  That expensive thing you buy when you really need to get out of the doghouse.

Paper Cutter: ruled platform with a straightedge razor that is quickly pulled across paper creating a clean straight edge. 

Pendants:  those things that usually contain precious stones and attach to necklaces that we spend a lot on.  Crafty people tend to make them out of a variety of things for a lot less money and oftentimes more style.

Scrapbook Supporter:  Primarily guys with scrapbooking girlfriends or wives. Do not insert jock strap jokes here. See Hostage above.

Stamps:  rubber things with designs that are an integral part in the whole craft process.  Apparently they come on wood blocks or are free floating and are then applied to an acrylic block to be “inked” and then stamped on the paper.  They are not the same thing as the Duck Stamp you have to purchase before hunting waterfowl. 

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot: After four years in the Navy, I developed a vocabulary of acronyms.  When something really baffles me, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot is the typical response.  No profanity, just the zulu alphabet.
